Van Loveren is a leading family-owned wine estate in the Robertson Valley, offering diverse experiences including wine tasting, food pairings, cellar tours, and outdoor activities.
Van Loveren has been in the Retief family since 1937 when Hennie Retief SNR bought the property in the Robertson Valley and named it after Christiena van Loveren, an ancestor of his new spouse, Jean van Zyl. Van Loveren has developed from humble beginnings to become South Africa’s leading family-owned winery, noted for consistency, award-winning wines, and innovation.

About
Wine
Sweet wines and wine for brandy have been produced throughout the years. When Nico and Wynand joined Hennie in the 1970s, the winery was modernized and the first dry wines were produced – Colombar and Steen (Chenin blanc), which were quickly followed by the noble cultivars Sauvignon blanc and Chardonnay in the early 1980s. You can enjoy an informal tasting at their pods in their tasting room, or treat yourself to a leisurely meal and wine pairing platter on the balcony overlooking the garden.
Dining
Christina’s @ Van Loveren cafe, which specializes in thin-crusted, wood-fired pizzas, gourmet burgers, and a selection of seasonal chef’s specialities, allows you to enjoy your meal with a glass of your favourite Van Loveren wine under a shaded pergola. Everything on our menu is created from scratch right here in our kitchen. They take pleasure in using local ingredients and reducing food miles. Local musicians set the tone for a relaxed day on Sundays. Christina’s customers have access to free WiFi.
