The inside track

The estate

De Wetshof Estate is a pioneering, third-generation family-owned winery in the Robertson Wine Valley, internationally renowned as South Africa's premier Chardonnay House.

De Wetshof Estate is the oldest registered wine estate in South Africa and was established in 1694 by Jan de Wet and his family. They produce some of SA's most renowned Chardonnay as well as other cool climate varieties like Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc. With its unique soil types ranging from limestone cliffs to ancient sea beds, De Wetshof has proven to be ideal for growing grapes for its premium quality wines.

De Wetshof, located in the Robertson Region, 160 kilometres from Cape Town, is one of South Africa's best chardonnay houses, producing a variety of wine types from this adaptable varietal. The Estate, on the other hand, offers a well-balanced portfolio of remarkable, award-winning wines from vineyards and a cellar where cutting-edge technology and common sense farming and wine-making coexist.
