The estate
Brookdale Estate is a luxury wine farm in the Paarl Valley, offering premium wine tastings, seasonal fine dining at The Bistro, and elegant accommodation in a restored Manor House.
Brookdale was an overgrown, forgotten vineyard in the Klein Drakenstein foothills outside Paarl when the Rudd family took it on in 2015. Proprietor Tim Rudd named it after the hamlet where he was born. Today it is a working wine farm and country retreat, with indigenous gardens, fynbos and thousands of newly planted indigenous trees.
Wine
Inspired by time in the vineyards of Portugal, Italy and France, Brookdale focuses on varietals that are rare in South Africa, along with field blends. Winemaker Xander Sadie and Assistant Winemaker Shanice du Preez, who have led the cellar for more than two years, make two ranges. The Brookdale range includes the field blends, an Old Vine Chenin Blanc, Grenache Noir and Grenache Blanc, while the more relaxed Mason Road range covers Chenin Blanc, rosé, a GSM and a Syrah.
Dining
The Bistro at Brookdale was recently awarded One Star at the Eat Out Restaurant Awards. Executive Chef Gary Coetzee cooks refined, seasonal dishes with produce from the Paarl Valley, served on the terrace overlooking the vineyards or beside the fire on cooler days, with Brookdale and Mason Road wines to match.

Wine Tasting
The tasting room sits next to the cellar, so you get a close-up view during harvest. You can choose a set Mason Road tasting or taste the Brookdale range by the glass, depending on what's available. Open Tuesday to Sunday, 11:00–17:00. Brookdale is a cashless facility.
The Bistro at Brookdale
Awarded One Star at the Eat Out Restaurant Awards, the Bistro serves refined, seasonal dishes by Executive Chef Gary Coetzee, paired with Brookdale and Mason Road wines.
The Team
Winemaker Xander Sadie and Assistant Winemaker Shanice du Preez lead the cellar, working with proprietor Tim Rudd. Executive Chef Gary Coetzee runs the kitchen.
Functions

Exclusive-Use Manor House Villa
Enjoy Brookdale’s Manor House as a private six-bedroom villa, with five Manor Suites and the adjacent Vineyard Suite accommodating up to 12 adults and two children. The Owners' Lodge Exclusive Us
A secluded hilltop retreat overlooking vineyards and the Drakenstein mountains, the Owners’ Lodge offers four en-suite bedrooms for up to eight guests.
