Located on the historic Kalmoesfontein farm in the Paardeberg area of the Swartland, AA Badenhorst Family Wines was established in 2007 by cousins Adi and Hein Badenhorst. The estate is celebrated for its commitment to traditional, low-intervention winemaking and the preservation of old bush vines. Visitors can enjoy a rustic, authentic experience that includes wine tastings, farm-style dining, cellar tours, and on-site accommodation.

History
Founded in the Swartland by Adi Badenhorst, this family farm grew from a rented vineyard into one of South Africa’s most influential natural-wine labels.
Winemaking
Whole-bunch fermentation in old oak, no additions, long elevage. The wines are raised with minimal intervention and bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Tasting details
AA Badenhorst employs a meticulous, traditional winemaking approach. All fruit undergoes whole bunch-handling without crushing or destemming. White grapes go directly to old casks or concrete tanks for fermentation and ageing; red grapes ferment in concrete tanks and open wooden kuipe, followed by extended maceration of up to 4 months, then ageing in casks or 4000-liter foudres. No additives except sulfur. Tasting lunches are hosted monthly with cellar tours alongside the winemakers, featuring an extensive wine selection paired with a buffet-style lunch. Wine-pairing dinners are occasionally organized.
