The experience

About this tour

See the Cape Winelands at their busiest and most exciting. Our private harvest season wine tour runs from late January to April, when the vineyards are being picked and the cellars are working flat out, so you get to see wine being made, not just poured.

Depending on the estate and the day, you might watch grapes coming in from the vineyards, see them crushed and follow the early stages of fermentation, before tasting the finished wines. It's a private day with your own guide and vehicle, visiting three estates across Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, Paarl or Durbanville.

When Is Harvest in the Cape?

Harvest in the Cape Winelands usually runs from late January to April. Early-ripening whites and sparkling-wine grapes tend to come in first, with the reds following later in the season. Exact timing shifts from year to year with the weather, so what you see on the day will depend on where each estate is in its harvest.
