Vrede en Lust, meaning “peace and delight” in Afrikaans, is a historic Cape Winelands estate that lives up to its name. Nestled amidst the slopes of the Simonsberg Mountain in the Franschhoek Wine Route since 1688, the estate offers a captivating blend of rich heritage, award-winning wines, and breathtaking scenery.

Wine
At Vrede en Lust, a deep respect for tradition meets modern innovation. The winemaking team, led by Karlin and Annette, is dedicated to crafting exceptional wines that reflect the estate’s unique terroir. The team expertly crafts their wines using only the highest quality grapes hand-picked from each farm and utilising the finest French oak barrels. Annette is the head viticulturist and excels at managing over 90 ha of vineyards, both the Vrede en Lust, Simondium Vineyards and Casey’s Ridge in Elgin’s vineyards, delivering only the highest quality grapes.
Dining
Experience a combination of exquisite cuisine and breathtaking scenery at Lust en Vrede. Lust Bistro & Bakery serves delicious breakfast and brunch, emphasising artisanal bread baked fresh in a traditional wood-fired hearth. Savoye is the go-to spot for lunch and dinner, nestled in the Manor House garden amidst ancient oak trees and playful squirrels. It’s an ideal celebration venue for a relaxing lunch or dinner with friends.
