Vergelegen is a historic, world-class wine estate in Somerset West, renowned for its gravity-fed cellar, exquisite heritage gardens, and exceptional dining experiences.
Established on 1 February 1700, Vergelegen Wine Estate, in the Stellenbosch Winelands, has been owned by renowned explorers and forward-thinkers who have each played a significant role in shaping Vergelegen into the exceptional Estate it is today. This world-class establishment became the first producer to receive the prestigious BWI ‘Champion’ status in March 2005, thanks to its remarkable efforts in clearing invasive species and implementing effective fire management, resulting in the restoration of 2240 hectares out of its total 3000-hectare Estate.

Wine
At Vergelegen Wine Estate, visitors are welcome to indulge in wine tastings throughout the week, from Monday to Sunday, and purchase wines from Monday to Thursday. You can expect a warm reception at the Vergelegen Wine Tasting Centre, where their knowledgeable wine advisors will gladly assist you in exploring Vergelegen’s selection of award-winning wines. The Tasting Centre provides a picturesque view of a spacious herb garden in an octagonal shape, and guests have the choice of enjoying their tastings either indoors or on the patio.
Dining
Vergelegen Wine Estate presents three distinct dining experiences, each offering its own unique ambience. Cafe Fleur at Vergelegen offers a delightful pop-up dining experience inspired by classic French cuisine. The Stables at Vergelegen provides a family-friendly dining atmosphere, serving breakfast and lunch daily. For a truly enchanting experience, Vergelegen’s mystical camphor forest serves as the backdrop for an elegant “white tablecloth” picnic, available seasonally from November to April.
