The inside track

The estate

Nederburg is a historic and award-winning wine estate in Paarl, offering sophisticated wine tastings, cellar tours, and seasonal dining at The Manor.

Nederburg Wines has a winemaking legacy dating to 1791, when Philippus Wolvaart acquired 49 hectares in the Paarl Valley. The estate was named Nederburgh after VOC commissioner Sebastiaan Cornelis Nederburgh. Its thatched, gabled Cape Dutch manor house, completed in 1800, is now a national monument.

The Wines

Nederburg offers a diverse wine portfolio including the Two Centuries, Heritage Heroes, Winemasters, sparkling wines and Baronne ranges. Tastings are available in the Manor House, with food served under the oaks. Staff guide visitors through the wines. Non-alcoholic ciders, beers, drinks and a hot-chocolate experience are also available.

Dining

The Manor is a renovated restaurant focused on nostalgic, filling cuisine with a sense of heritage. Generous picnics are available in the gardens, with views of the scenery and historic manor house.

Experiences

Wine Tasting offers a selection of red, white and sparkling wines, with staff explaining winemaking and wine characteristics. Picnic baskets are served on the estate lawns, overlooking vineyards and the Drakenstein mountains. Manor House Tours are guided tours covering the historic manor, estate history, winemaking heritage and architecture. The Brew Tasting pairs specialty Freedom Coffee with Nederburg wines. The Dinner of Discovery Experience is a three-course canapé-style food-and-wine pairing involving blindfolded tasting, followed by sighted exploration and courses accompanied by evocative sounds. Conference and meeting facilities offer garden, vineyard and mountain views, flexible spaces, hospitality, cuisine and wine.

Nederburg's experiences cater to wine enthusiasts, food lovers, art lovers and visitors seeking a peaceful scenic escape.
