Founded in 1692 on the R44 below the Simonsberg, Morgenhof is a Cape Dutch estate with award-winning Chenin Blanc, an open-flame restaurant and tastings in its historic cellar.
Founded in 1692, Morgenhof Wine Estate is a historic landmark in the Stellenbosch winelands known for its Cape Dutch heritage and premium wine production. The estate features over 50 hectares under vine and offers visitors a range of experiences, including guided wine tastings, seasonal dining, and event hosting. With a commitment to both tradition and modern hospitality, the estate provides a picturesque setting for exploring the distinct terroir of the Simonsberg region.

The range spans Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and a Brut Reserve Cap Classique. The 2025 Chenin Blanc won gold, with 95 points, at the 2026 Fine Wine Awards.
Dining
Veldt Restaurant cooks over open flames with ingredients inspired by the farm and the seasons, open for breakfast and lunch from Tuesday to Sunday and dinner on Fridays and Saturdays. Volere serves wine and deli-style plates in a relaxed setting.

At Morgenhof, winemaking is a passion flowing through the vineyards and cellars. The estate offers a diverse portfolio expressing Stellenbosch terroir, including Chardonnays, Cabernet Sauvignons, Merlots and Bordeaux blends. Guided tastings cover the wine portfolio, winemaking process and estate history, while behind-the-scenes cellar tours take visitors from vine to bottle. Gourmet and vegetarian picnic baskets are available with cheese, bread, pâté and a choice of red, white or rosé wine.
