Nestled in Durbanville, South Africa, Meerendal Wine Estate is a family-owned vineyard, conveniently located just 20 minutes from Cape Town. The estate is tended by a committed team, driven by a passion for cultivating top-quality grapes in its vineyards. These carefully nurtured grapes find their way to the cellar, where they transform into exceptional wines. In 2004, the Coertze family embarked on their wine journey by investing in Meerendal, thus becoming integral to its prestigious history. Fueled by a deep passion for the estate, vines, and wines, the family is dedicated to enhancing the lives of those at Meerendal and continually elevating the quality of their productions.
Wine
Meerendal Wine Estate dates back to 1702 when the farm was handed to Jan Meerland by Governor Willem Adriaan van der Stel. Meerendal Wine Estate, which has been privately owned since 2004, has grown to become one of South Africa’s top wine estates. Meerendal’s distinct position and terroir in one of the coolest wine districts in the Western Cape, with its calm sea breezes from the Atlantic Ocean, is excellent for a wide range of noble varietals. The great quality of Meerendal wines is ensured by the high quality of Shiraz, Pinotage, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir grapes grown, as well as sophisticated cellar processes.

Meerendal Wine Estate offers three distinct dining experiences. Bossa Winelands at Meerendal provides a casual dining atmosphere with a lively ambiance. Patrons can expect friendly service and a menu designed to cater to a variety of palates and occasions. The offerings range from nachos and chilli poppers to crunchy salads, beloved burgers, seafood, wood-fired pizzas, 35-day dry-aged prime cuts, and more.
LaRomantica at Meerendal captures the essence of the Italian lifestyle with its colourful and flavour-filled atmosphere. The comprehensive menu combines the best of Italy with South Africa, complemented by Meerendal’s fine South African estate wines. The restaurant aims to evoke a home-cooked feeling, where the kitchen serves as the heart of all South African homes, creating a space where everyone feels part of the family.
