The estate
Set in the spectacular Hottentots Holland Valley, Lourensford Wine Estate offers a diverse range of experiences including world-class wine tasting, fine dining, and outdoor activities.
In Somerset West, close to the Stellenbosch Winelands, Lourensford Wine Estate spans 4,000 hectares of picturesque landscapes, including forests, fynbos, orchards, and vineyards ascending the Helderberg Mountains. Established in 1709 by Governor Willem Adriaan van der Stel, the estate boasts a rich history as a world-class fruit farm. Dr Christo Wiese’s acquisition in 1998 revived the winemaking tradition, making Lourensford a cherished destination for friends, family, and wine enthusiasts.

About
Wine
Formerly part of Vergelegen, the estate’s proud history extends to its days as a fruit farm. Dr Christo Wiese’s ownership in 1998 marked the revival of winemaking at Lourensford. The estate offers a range of wines, and visitors can indulge in premium tastings, Belgian chocolate and wine pairings, blind wine tasting challenges, Turkish delight pairings, and soup and wine pairings during winter. The Packaged deal provides a comprehensive experience, including premium tastings, a cellar tour, and delightful pairings.
Dining
The Millhouse Kitchen, an Italian-inspired eatery, invites guests to enjoy seasonal fresh menus in a beautiful setting. Open for breakfast and lunch daily, it transforms into an intimate venue for date night dinners from Tuesdays to Saturdays. Warm up by the fireplace during winter while sipping on exquisite Lourensford wines.
Wine Tasting
The wine tasting room, overlooking the cellar, welcomes enthusiasts and provides a delightful opportunity to indulge in the art of wine appreciation. Whether it’s a pre-lunch activity or a post-breakfast treat, the experience is crafted for every palate. Visitors can partake in a tasting of five exquisite wines, savouring the nuanced flavours carefully cultivated by Lourensford. Any purchase from the cellar entitles guests to a complimentary wine tasting.
