Lievland Vineyards is a historic estate nestled at the foot of the Simonsberg Mountain, offering elegant wines and a relaxed dining atmosphere.
Wine Tasting: By Appointment Only
Steeped in history, charm, and a touch of legend, Lievland Vineyards is a farm where winemaking and storytelling intertwine. The estate’s name, meaning “Loveland” in Afrikaans, reflects its romantic past and the enduring passion of those who have called it home. From the Latvian baroness who ploughed the Stellenbosch vineyards by horse to the visionary winemaker who pioneered barrel-fermented Chenin Blanc, each chapter of Lievland’s history adds to its allure. The farm is even known for an unusual love story—a pair of horses adopting a baby springbok, a heartwarming tale that inspired the vineyard’s whimsical wine labels.
In 2017, MAN Family Wines acquired Lievland, seeing not just a vineyard but a “sleeping beauty” waiting to be revived. Nestled along Stellenbosch’s scenic Route 44, the estate had been dormant for over a decade, yet its potential was undeniable. With meticulous care, the team at MAN restored the land, breathing new life into the vineyards and rekindling Lievland’s legacy of producing exceptional wines.

The estate specializes in elegant, well-balanced wines, made with a hands-off approach that lets the terroir shine. The wines tell a story of their origins—expressive, complex, and crafted with respect for nature and tradition.
Dining
The Lievland Café is a hidden gem for food lovers visiting the estate. Open daily from 08:00 to 16:00, the café offers breakfast, lunch, and a signature Sunday Roast in a relaxed vineyard setting. Business professionals can also take advantage of the executive Business Lunch, combining gourmet dining with a refined, professional atmosphere.
Wine Tasting
Experience Lievland’s wines in the beautifully restored Manor House, where each sip reveals the estate’s rich history and terroir-driven flavours. Their wine tasting experience is by appointment only.
