The estate
Kunjani Wine Estate is a modern, architecturally striking destination in Stellenbosch, offering premium wines, fine dining, and luxury villa accommodation.
Stellenbosch
Kunjani Villas & Wines is a boutique stay on a working wine estate in the Bottelary Hills, just outside Stellenbosch. The estate's nine stylish villas and suites pair modern design with sweeping vineyard views, and breakfast is included in every stay. It's a relaxed, private base for exploring the Cape Winelands, whether you're planning a romantic getaway, a family holiday or a trip with friends.
"Kunjani" is a warm Zulu greeting meaning "Hi, how are you?", and that sense of welcome runs through the whole estate.
The Wine Estate
Kunjani was founded by Paul Barth, who grew up in Germany's Rheingau wine region, and South African businesswoman Pia Watermeyer. A walk through the vineyards convinced them this was the place to build their dream. Their wines combine what they call "German precision and South African soul", and the range includes Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, the Stolen Chicken Rosé, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and a red blend. The Shiraz 2015 won gold at the Michelangelo International Wine Awards.
Guests have two swimming pools overlooking the vineyards, daily housekeeping and 24-hour security. The estate is solar-powered, so stays aren't interrupted by power cuts. In-villa spa treatments and a private chef can also be arranged.
Types of Accommodation
Kunjani offers nine villas and suites, from cosy one-bedroom retreats to large villas for families and groups. Most have a fully equipped kitchen, and every stay includes Wi-Fi, air conditioning, a smart TV and a safe.
