Tucked away in the scenic Cape Winelands, Heins at Kleine Liebe is more than just a farm—it’s a testament to generations of history, heritage, and tradition. Originally known as De Clapmuts Farm, this land began as a cattle outpost in the days of the Dutch East India Company, later evolving into a place of agricultural experimentation under British rule.
Fast forward to 1946, when Hermann Heinrich Paul Heins purchased the property, and today, the fourth generation of the Heins family continues the legacy, combining a passion for premium wine grapes with the production of high-quality pork meats. Integrity, tradition, and dignity are at the heart of everything they do.
Wine
The vineyards at Heins are deeply rooted in history—rumoured to have been planted during Jan van Riebeeck’s time. For decades, these grapes were sent to nearby cellars, but 2022 marked a turning point for the family. The first vintage under their own label, Heins Family Wines, was finally released, a dream fulfilled after three generations of farming. The initial collection includes a crisp Sauvignon Blanc, a refreshing Dry Rosé, and a bold Shiraz. These wines are made from specially selected grape blocks, harvested at their peak to capture the essence of the farm’s rich terroir in every bottle.

Kleine Liebe Restaurant & Deli, created by JD and Heidi de Villiers, offers a cosy atmosphere where guests can savour hearty meals alongside Heins Family Wines. Open for breakfast and lunch, the restaurant serves up a delightful array of dishes, each infused with a homely charm and paired perfectly with the farm’s own wines.
