The inside track

The estate

Nestled in the Simonsberg foothills, Delheim is a family-run estate known for its pioneering spirit, legendary wine pairings, and beautiful nature trails.

High on the slopes of Simonsberg Mountain in Stellenbosch, approximately 50 km from Cape Town, the Sperling family's Delheim Wine Estate is nestled, and it has been a beacon of characterful winemaking for decades. The estate extends a warm welcome to all-year-round visitors, offering them not only breathtaking views but also an authentic sense of family hospitality.

The Wines

Delheim Wine Estate boasts a collection of award-winning wines, led by the prestigious Grand Reserve, which has garnered significant acclaim since its debut in 1981. Among the favourites are the renowned Pinotage Rosé, a trailblazer as the first of its kind in South Africa back in 1976, and the distinctive Spatzendreck dessert wine.

Delheim's ethos revolves around holistic practices, emphasizing community and land stewardship, sustainable winemaking, and enduring ethical business principles. The estate has long nurtured a culture of sustainable development within its borders and among the surrounding community.

Dining

The Garden Restaurant at Delheim Wine Estate offers a limited yet delightful selection of both classic and contemporary dishes amidst its charming setting, all accompanied by warm hospitality. Breakfast and lunch are served for the pleasure of guests.

Wine Tasting

Delheim holds the distinction of being a pioneer on South Africa's wine routes. Two distinct tasting options are available: the Reserve Tasting and the Delheim Tasting, savoured either on the garden patio with stunning views of Table Mountain, or in the cool ambience of the Downstairs Cellar. The Wine & Fynbos Cupcake Pairing features cupcakes infused with indigenous fynbos flavours, expertly paired with four award-winning Delheim wines — a sensory journey celebrating the Cape's Floral Kingdom and eco-friendly winemaking.
