De Trafford Wines is a boutique, family-run estate located at the top of the Blaauwklippen Valley, specializing in handcrafted, high-intensity wines.
De Trafford Winery is situated on the beautiful Mont Fleur farm set at the top of a dramatic valley above Stellenbosch, 380m up between the Stellenbosch and Helderberg mountains, right at the end of the Blaauwklip road, between Stellenbosch and Somerset West.
Wine
De Trafford Wines is a South African winery renowned for its commitment to producing wines with ripe, intense flavours. Their focus on natural winemaking practices, such as hand-harvesting, Indigenous yeast fermentation, and extended barrel ageing, allows the grapes' unique character to shine through.
Red wines from De Trafford are crafted from carefully selected grapes picked at peak ripeness. White wines, primarily made from Chenin Blanc, are produced using a similar approach. One of De Trafford's unique offerings is its straw wine. This dessert wine is made from Chenin Blanc grapes that are dried on racks before fermentation. This process concentrates the sugars, acidity, and fruit flavours, resulting in a luscious and sweet wine. Overall, De Trafford Wines is dedicated to producing high-quality wines that reflect the terroir and natural character of the grapes.
