The estate

Bartinney Private Cellar is a boutique, family-owned estate perched on the dramatic slopes of the Helshoogte Pass in the Banhoek Valley, renowned for its high-altitude vineyards and commitment to biodiversity.

Perched on the dramatic slopes of the Botmaskop alongside the Helshoogte Pass, overlooking the picturesque Banhoek Valley in Stellenbosch, Bartinney Private Cellar is a historic gem. Established in 1912 and owned by the Jordaan family since 1953, Bartinney is now passionately tended to by Rose and Michael Jordaan. Their vision is to create exceptional wines while reviving the charm of this historic land. At Bartinney, excellence in wine is not just a pursuit; it's a harmonious blend of agriculture with nature, people with animals, and sustainability with excellence.

Wine

With vineyards planted at 550m above sea level and slopes as steep as 45 degrees, Bartinney's old vines produce exceptional expression and character wines. Hand-tended Chardonnay vineyards on cooler elevated slopes yield perfect fruit, while Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards on the lower foothills of the Botmaskop mountains are meticulously cared for.

Dining

Indulge in sustainably produced, small-lot wines at the buzzing Bartinney Wine & Champagne Bar in central Stellenbosch. Sip on wine-friendly seasonal nibbles and share plates while relaxing in comfortable reclaimed armchairs or soaking in the atmosphere on the terrace. Admire the stunning light installation crafted from old Chardonnay vines and panoramic views printed on the wall, complemented by delicate light and shadows cast by native cape fynbos plants.
