Walker Bay Estate is a family-owned country estate near Stanford, home to both award-winning vineyards and the historic Birkenhead Brewery.
Nestled near the charming town of Stanford, Walker Bay Estate beckons with its beautiful scenery and unique terroir. Bordering the cool Atlantic Ocean and cradled by the Klein Rivier mountains, the estate boasts diverse soil types, including decomposed granite, shale, and limestone outcrops. Combined with the cool climate, this allows grapes to ripen slowly, resulting in concentrated, balanced wines with a true sense of place. As one of the coolest wine wards in the region, Walker Bay Estate is passionate about crafting exceptional wines that reflect the unique character of their land.

Wine
Walker Bay is renowned for its cool climate, with average summer days reaching only 28°C. The proximity to the ocean and cooling sea breezes contribute to the development of pronounced fruit flavours and acidity in the grapes. This also allows optimal phenolic ripeness, producing balanced wines with lower alcohol content. Since 2007, Walker Bay Estate has been producing exceptional wines, with their first estate wine debuting in their state-of-the-art winery in 2012.
