The estate
Springfontein Wine Estate is a certified organic, monopole estate in the Walker Bay district, renowned for its limestone-rich soils and cool maritime climate. It offers a unique visitor experience featuring fine dining at the Ulumbaza Wine Bar(n) and boutique accommodation.
Founded in 1994 by Johst Weber, Springfontein Wine Estate is the sole producer within the Springfontein Rim monopole ward, a unique appellation defined by its sparse alkaline limestone soils and steep slopes facing Walker Bay. The estate is a certified organic farm that practices minimal-intervention winemaking, producing distinctive Chenin Blanc and Pinotage. Beyond its viticultural excellence, the estate offers a holistic hospitality experience, including the Ulumbaza Wine Bar(n) for dining, luxury accommodation, and educational activities like fynbos walks and vineyard tours.
