The estate
Le Bonheur Wine Estate is a historic property on the slopes of Klapmuts Hill, celebrated for its classic, terroir-driven wines and long-standing viticultural heritage.
Nestled amidst the breathtaking Simonsberg Mountains and Klapmuts Hill, Le Bonheur Wine Estate is the gateway to Stellenbosch, South Africa's renowned wine-producing region. With roots dating back to the 1700s, the estate encapsulates the rich heritage of Stellenbosch. Initially a resting place for travellers and traders, offering lush green surroundings and natural spring waters, it was aptly named "Le Bonheur" by the French Huguenot De Villiers family, translating to "happiness." Today, the estate maintains its sense of place, timeless setting, and historical significance.

About
Wine
Perched at altitudes reaching 450m, with varied aspects and slopes along Klapmuts Hill, Le Bonheur boasts an array of excellent wines. The estate houses some of Stellenbosch's oldest Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon plantings, contributing to the depth and complexity of their wines. All grapes undergo hand harvesting, and traditional winemaking methods with a strong French influence are applied. Renowned for its elegant, full-bodied, and classically styled wines, Le Bonheur's winery is a testament to craftsmanship.
Dining
While the estate itself doesn't host a restaurant, guests have the pleasure of exploring a variety of dining options in the charming town of Stellenbosch. Immerse yourself in the local culinary scene and complement your visit to Le Bonheur with delightful meals in the surrounding area.
