The estate
La Vierge is a specialist cool-climate wine estate in the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge, renowned for its elegant Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grown in unique clay-rich Bokkeveld shale soils. The estate offers a sophisticated tasting room and restaurant experience set within a stunning natural mountain amphitheatre.
La Vierge Wines is a meticulously created wine farm that draws its vivid and unique inspiration from the nearby Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, which is also home to the famous whale-watching town of Hermanus. The farm, located on an s-bend, provides the ideal vantage point from which to view the surrounding environment while sipping their award-winning wines or dining on a dish from their special menu. The Johnson family founded the winery in 1997, but once the La Vierge family purchased it, substantial improvements occurred. These were finished in 2007, along with the architecturally exciting winery you see today: a tasting room, restaurant, balcony, and boules, a double-volume winery, and a sunken barrel maturation room.

About
Wine
The area is well-known for its Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, but it also produces excellent Sauvignon Blanc, Sangiovese, Shiraz, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Semillon, and Riesling. La Vierge provides a wonderful selection of both red and white wines, each with its own unique narrative to tell. Their Tasting Room is located in the winery's bright and lovely entrance, with stunning views of the Hemel-en-Aarde's rolling hills and mountains at your feet. For sunny days, they also feature an outdoor terrace.
Dining
B's Stro, led by the acclaimed steak master Bruce, presents a one-of-a-kind menu that perfectly complements the La Vierge wine selection and is only accentuated by the breathtaking view that surrounds their little slice of Heaven and Earth. Canapés can be enjoyed on the bright open-air deck, or inside among artworks and large, floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the valley.

La Vierge
2023 Chardonnay
Grown across Blocks 7 and 10 on the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge, this Chardonnay was planted in 2006 and 2007 on argillaceous shale soils. The east- to north-east-facing slopes sit between 260 and 305 metres, just 10 km from the Atlantic — the ocean's cool influence shaping the slow, even ripening that defines the Ridge.

La Vierge
2023 Pinot Noir
A single 2,21-hectare block (Block 6) planted in 2007 to clones 115B and 777B on argillaceous shale. The vines climb east- to north-east-facing slopes between 300 and 325 metres, 10 km from the ocean and 8,5 km from the cellar. It's a cool, exposed site that gives the Pinot its lifted aromatics and natural tension.
