Established in 1956, Klawer Wine Cellar is the welcoming gateway to the Olifants River Valley in the West Coast Wine Region, perfectly positioned just outside the small town of Klawer and a stone's throw from the N7. With the majestic Matzikama Mountains to the east and the winding Olifants River to the west, the estate lies in a landscape of wildflowers, emerald vineyards, and West Coast charm. Just under three hours' drive from Cape Town, Klawer is a popular stopover for travellers heading to or from Namibia, offering scenic beauty, rich agricultural heritage, and exceptional wine experiences.
The name "Klawer" comes from the wild clover that carpets the land in spring. Visitors to Klawer Cellar can explore its award-winning wines, rich history, and tasting room filled with locally made products and gifts—making it more than a winery, but a true destination.
