The inside track
The estate
Say your vows beneath the oaks of a Huguenot estate that dates back to 1694. Grande Provence combines vineyard and mountain views with an award-winning kitchen and its own wines, so the day can run from ceremony to dinner without leaving the estate. Contact Wine in the Cape for availability and a tailored quote.
Grande Provence traces its story to 1694, when the French Huguenot Pierre Joubert settled in the valley then known as Olifantshoek, soon to be renamed Franschhoek, or "French Corner". Today the 47-acre estate sits on the R45 at the heart of the valley, its vineyards and centuries-old oaks framed by the Franschhoek mountains.

Wine
The estate makes two ranges: the flagship Grande Provence wines, including Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Merlot, and the easy-drinking Angels Tears range. A collection of Cap Classique sparkling wines, among them a Brut, Brut Rosé and Nectar Rosé, completes the line-up.
Dining
The Oak Restaurant serves elegant, seasonal menus built on locally sourced ingredients, while The Bistro offers a more relaxed meal. In the warmer months, Grande Country Picnics can be enjoyed under the oaks, and private, wine-paired dining can be arranged for groups.

Tastings & Pairings
The tasting room is open daily from 10:00 to 17:00. Alongside classic tastings of the Grande Provence and Angels Tears ranges, guests can try playful pairings: Angels Tears wines with nougat, Cap Classique with dressed oysters, a Cape Heritage pairing with snoek and bobotie golgappa, and wine with biltong and droewors. A non-alcoholic nougat pairing makes it easy to bring the family.
Wine Blending
Guests can create their own blend in a hands-on session, tasting the component wines and learning how a winemaker balances them.
The Gallery
The estate's gallery shows curated collections of contemporary South African art, with a shop alongside.
Weddings
Grande Provence hosts weddings among its vineyards and oaks. Contact Wine in the Cape for venue details and quotes.
