Stellenzicht Wine Pod: A Nature-Infused Wine-Tasting Experience
If you’re looking for a unique wine-tasting experience that combines the best of nature and exceptional wine, the Stellenzicht Wine Pod is a must-visit destination. Nestled amidst fynbos and wild grasses, this sleek and curvaceous pod offers a tranquil retreat with panoramic views of Stellenbosch and the majestic Helderberg mountains.

A Serene Escape
The Stellenzicht Wine Pod, with its elegant design, extends into a spacious deck that allows visitors to soak in the serene surroundings. Whether you choose to relax on comfortable couches or cane chairs, the setting is perfect for an afternoon of indulgence. Enjoying fine wines and wood-fired pizzas while being enveloped by the natural beauty of the Cape Winelands is an experience unlike any other.
A Journey of Restoration
Since acquiring the 230-hectare farm in 2017, German owner Baron Hans von Staff-Reitzenstein has meticulously restored Stellenzicht to its former glory. Once known for the celebrated 1994 Stellenzicht Syrah, the farm had fallen into neglect but has now been revitalised with a focus on sustainability and balance. The farm practices regenerative farming and works harmoniously with the terroir, inviting dragonflies back to their mountainside paradise. The eco-friendly wine pod exemplifies this ethos, fitting seamlessly into the landscape without requiring a concrete foundation and being easily movable.

Wine Excellence in the Golden Triangle
Located in Stellenbosch’s prestigious Golden Triangle, the Stellenzicht farm produces wines that are a true expression of the land. The slopes above the wine pod are renowned for their balanced, single-varietal wines. Winemaker L’Re Hughes and viticulturist Nico Nortje are dedicated to crafting terroir-driven wines. “We believe in terroir-driven wines,” L’Re explains. “We let the soils create the very best vineyards of grapes that historically have flourished on the Stellenzicht farm. We don’t force what nature hasn’t already given us.” The focus is on the varietals that have made Stellenbosch famous: cabernet sauvignon, syrah, chardonnay, and cinsault, available in three distinct ranges for tasting. Culinary Delights
Complementing the exquisite wines is a simple yet satisfying menu. Crisp, thin-based wood-fired pizzas, such as the delicious pancetta and funghi pizza paired with the Tristone Cabernet Sauvignon, are perfect for stretching your wine-tasting into a relaxed lunch. Additionally, sumptuous cheese and charcuterie platters, accompanied by pillowy ciabatta bread, offer a delightful pairing with the wines. If pizza is not what you’re craving, nothing pairs more perfectly than a crisp glass of Stellenzicht rosé with a charcuterie board. The smoky selection of meats and creamy cheeses balances beautifully with the wine’s acidity. To finish, enjoy a cup of coffee and perhaps a pasteis de nata for dessert.

A Hidden Gem
The Stellenzicht Wine Pod is a hidden gem that combines nature, elegance, and exceptional wine tasting. It’s a refreshing retreat that offers a breath of fresh air and a unique way to experience the beauty and flavours of the Cape Winelands. Whether you’re a local or a tourist, visiting Stellenzicht is a journey well worth taking.
