Adventure Wine Tours

See the Winelands from the saddle, on two wheels, on foot or from an open safari vehicle. There’s always time for a tasting afterwards.

E-bikes through the vineyards

Adventure wine tours in Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Constantia

Our E-Bike tours cover the most ground, the Wine Walks take you between estates on foot, the Horseback Wine Tour includes a one-hour guided ride at Boschendal, and the Vineyard Safari Tour heads up the slopes at Waterford in an open safari vehicle. Each one is built around tastings and pairings, with your guide handling the logistics.

Where to go

Stellenbosch is the base for most of these tours, with Franschhoek and the Boschendal area close by. The scenery changes quickly between valleys, which is half the reason to see it this way.

Active wine tours from Cape Town

If a day of sitting in tasting rooms isn’t for you, an adventure wine tour gets you out into the vineyards between glasses. Every private tour includes your guide, transport and hotel pickup from Cape Town, so all you need to bring is comfortable shoes.

E-bike wine tours in Stellenbosch

E-bikes take the effort out of the hills, so you can cover more estates without arriving out of breath. Choose the full-day tour to explore Stellenbosch from morning to late afternoon, or the half-day tour if you want an active outing that still leaves your evening free.

Horse riding wine tour at Boschendal

The Horseback Wine Tour includes a one-hour guided ride at Boschendal, between Franschhoek and Stellenbosch, timed to a session that suits your riding level. The rest of the day is spent tasting at Babylonstoren, Boschendal and Blaauwklippen, with lunch along the way.

Vineyard walks in Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Constantia

Our wine walks are guided group tours that take you between estates on foot. The Stellenbosch and Franschhoek walks head into the heart of the Winelands. The Constantia Wine Walk and the Kirstenbosch to Constantia Wine Walk stay close to Cape Town, which makes them easy to fit into a short trip.

Vineyard safari drive at Waterford

On the Vineyard Safari Tour, you climb aboard an open safari vehicle at Waterford Estate and head up through the vineyards and mountain slopes. It’s part of a private day in Stellenbosch with tastings at three wine estates, starting with Jordan.

What to expect

On foot

A walk leaves time to stop and look around.

By e-bike

A bike covers more estates in the same time.

On horseback

The ride runs to the operator’s session times, and tastings fit around it.

The activity gets the best part of the day, and tastings fit around it. If your group has mixed energy levels, choose one activity and an unhurried lunch rather than trying to fit in two.

Planning tip: Pack comfortable shoes and a layer for the trail, and something fresh to change into before the tasting room.
