Wine

In 2006, the Entwistle Family revitalized the winemaking tradition at Val du Charron by purchasing the 45 Ha farm in the historic Bovlei Valley. Christening it Val du Charron, meaning Valley of the Wagonmakers, pays homage to the region’s rich history and culture. The estate’s French influence harks back to the Huguenots, while the nod to wagon-making recalls Wellington’s historical role as the last town servicing Afrikaner’s ox wagons before their journey over the majestic Bainskloof into the hinterland. Shop their wines here.

Dine

Val du Charron offers two exceptional eateries on the estate. The Grillroom, a haven for meat lovers, offers a menu featuring grain-fed and grass-fed beef, dry or wet-aged between 22 and 55 days. For those craving Pizza and Pasta, Pizza Vista, the family-friendly pizzeria, provides a relaxing atmosphere. Kids can enjoy a water park on the lawn while parents indulge in a variety of pizzas, calzones, and pasta dishes, paired perfectly with craft beer or thirst-quenching cocktails.

The Guesthouse:

Offering complete privacy with commanding views of the Hawekwa mountains, the Manor House is ideal for honeymooners or families seeking a luxurious, private, and relaxing holiday experience. Dating back to 1699, the Manor’s interiors have been entirely transformed into one of the most decadent accommodation experiences in the Wellington Winelands, featuring spacious indoor areas and 0.5 hectares of open space, including landscaped gardens and a pool.
