Dutch settlers began cultivating red and white wines, olive oils, peaches, grain, pears and plums in 1658. Tulbagh Winery was established in 1906 in Tulbagh Valley called Het Land van Waveren. This estate’s cellar achieved many firsts such as becoming the first export cellar, the first cellar to produce sparkling wine and also the first cellar to launch a ship.
Tulbagh Winery represents the complete range of South Africa’s greatest varietals, from soft easy-drinking reds to fresh and peppery dry whites, with a concentration on fruity blends that reflect the region’s hospitality. A fresh emphasis is being placed on reds, which range from full-bodied Cabernet to berry-rich delicious Pinotage, Merlot, and Shiraz.
