The vineyards at Piekenierskloof flourish under dryland conditions, relying solely on natural rainfall. This results in small, concentrated berries that produce wines of intensity and complexity. The estate is home to some of South Africa’s oldest, ungrafted bush vines—many over 60 years old—producing heritage wines of extraordinary finesse and elegance. These naturally low-yielding vines root deep into the earth, drawing up the true essence of the soil and climate.

The Piekenierskloof Wines Tasting Room is located at De Tol, a historic roadside landmark along the scenic N7 Piekenierskloof Pass. Originally established in 1849 as a supply station for travellers, De Tol continues its tradition of hospitality, now welcoming wine lovers to explore the unique character of Piekenierskloof’s wines. Guests can enjoy a relaxed, informative tasting while soaking up views of the surrounding countryside.
