About Oneiric Winery
Nestled in the heart of the cool-climate Elgin Valley, Oneiric Winery, pronounced as “Oh! – ne – rik,” embodies the realization of a dream. The name, borrowed from Greek terminology, translates to ‘dream,’ and this estate is indeed a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. Matt Pascall’s journey, which began when he left Rhodesia in the early 80s, led him to South Africa with the dream of owning a farm.
In 2007, he purchased a 64-hectare farm in Elgin, not fully realizing the potential it held. The journey of Oneiric started with eight hectares of grapes, harvested and transformed into wine by his old friend Benn Gunn of Iona Wines. As the years passed, Matt’s daughter, Shan Pascall, discovered the vast stock of 95,000 bottles stored on the estate. Determined to bring these wines to the world, Shan joined her father in the mission to share these treasures with wine enthusiasts.
