Tucked alongside the Blaauwklippen River in a quiet corner of Stellenbosch, Klein DasBosch is a hidden gem defined by tranquil beauty, thoughtful winemaking, and timeless architecture. This boutique estate is home to Whitey Basson and his family, with a manor that overlooks a serene pond, shaded by trees and often visited by ducks and birds. With only five hectares of vineyards and surrounded by well-known neighbours such as Mont Marie, Talana Hill, and Vriesenhof, Klein DasBosch embodies exclusivity and simplicity in equal measure. This is a place where winemaking is more than a process — it is a work of art.

Wine

Klein DasBosch produces wines in very limited quantities, ensuring meticulous attention to quality and craftsmanship. Their standout Merlot has received critical acclaim, including praise from renowned wine critic Michael Fridjhon, who described it as one of the best Merlots he had tasted that year. Expect intense mulberry and plum aromas, rich textures, and ripe tannins, with a dry, complex finish that pairs beautifully with red meat or aged cheese.
