About Elgin Vintners

The home of Elgin Vintners is located in the centre of the Elgin Valley, tucked between rows of vineyards, orchards of apples and pears, and an amphitheatre of the Kogelberg and Hottentots Holland mountain ranges. The high-lying, cool-climate Elgin district, which is about an hour east of Cape Town, has historically been an apple-growing area. Now, award-winning wine with exceptional composure, finesse, and elegance are produced here, with Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, and Shiraz doing particularly well in this later-ripening, cooler terroir.

The Elgin Vintners Country House, nestled on the picturesque Ridgelands farm in the Elgin Valley, offers a dreamy escape. This 4-star boutique guesthouse caters to those yearning for open skies, majestic mountains, pristine forests, fresh air, verdant orchards, and bountiful vineyards. Originally constructed in 1927, following the design of Sir Herbert Baker, the Country House has been lovingly restored to its Victorian splendour while incorporating modern comforts. It accommodates up to 10 guests in luxury suites and is family-friendly, granting access to the property’s amenities, including a swimming pool, tennis court, and barbecue area.

The rooms within the Country House pay homage to the former owners of Elgin Orchards farm, with each suite named after a past proprietor. The Syfret, Browne, and Denniston suites accommodate 2 guests each, while the Hahn family suite can host up to 4 guests.
