About Black Oystercatcher Wines
Located between Elim, Bredasdorp, and Agulhas in the Overberg region, Black Oystercatcher is a boutique wine farm rooted in family heritage and pioneering spirit. Founded by Dirk Human on the Moddervlei farm, this coastal estate became one of the first to establish vineyards in the maritime ward of Elim in 1998. Today, the Human family continues to farm sustainably on these limestone-rich soils, producing just 80,000 bottles of wine annually—each bottle crafted with care and true to its cool-climate origins. The farm is part of the Agulhas Wine Triangle, the southernmost wine ward on the African continent, surrounded by cultural landmarks and untouched natural beauty.
