Bordering Walker Bay, Hemel-en-Aarde is a 20-kilometre stretch of vineyards recognized for their unique terroir and marine character, which benefit from the high elevation and mild sea breezes during the Southern Right whales' annual winter migration. The ground here has changed and moved over millions of years, resulting in the broad differences that comprise the area's three unique appellations. Each winery produces limited quantities of high-quality wines in vineyards that are properly managed.
