About Mischa Estate Wines
Nestled in the picturesque valley of Wellington, South Africa, beneath Groenberg, Mischa Estate Wines holds a rich legacy as a third-generation winemaking haven. Acquired just after the Second World War by John Barns Senior, the estate’s unique allure lies in its panoramic view of Table Mountain, a distinguishing feature that affords Mischa a rare line of sight to the coast. Initially purchased for its remarkable vista, the estate has evolved into the fourth-largest vine nursery in the Southern Hemisphere, known as Mischa Nursery.
Andrew, John’s son, made history in 1999 by producing the first award-winning Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, marking the inception of Mischa wines. Today, Mischa Estate encompasses four farms: Mischa, Eventide, Dunedin, and Talana Hill, focusing on small-scale production centred around main cultivars Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, and Merlot.
