Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate is located 18 kilometres outside of Hermanus and one hour’s drive from Cape Town International Airport at the entrance to the cool Walker Bay Wine Region. This 200-hectare home estate and working wine farm is situated on the edge of the Bot River Lagoon and is overflowing with bird life, natural animals, and flora, with the Atlantic Ocean gracing the horizon.
The beautiful cool climate wines produced by Benguela Cove consistently live up to expectations for elegance, character, and longevity. From Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Sémillon, Viognier, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Pinot Noir, Malbec, and Mourvèdre grapes, they make a variety of acclaimed wines. There are several different dining options at Benguela Cove. With an elevated location affording expansive views of the lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean, the Moody Lagoon restaurant is located in the centre of the Benguela Cove winery complex. There are options for covered indoor and outdoor dining. Moody Lagoon serves afternoon tea at Benguela Cove from 1 pm to 3 pm. With a variety of sweet and savoury bites that are perfect for sharing, it provides a stunningly sumptuous tea experience. Benguela Cove also provides gourmet picnics at a number of distinctive picnic locations that can accommodate groups of any size. Reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance (48 hours for dietary needs).
